The 24-Hour Writing Sprint

Friday night. While many ease into the weekend, a couple hundred writers from across the planet are typing the night away — geeking out in the London Writers’ Salon’s 24-hour writing sprint. Absurd, and truly a nerd’s delight. (community.londonwriterssalon.com/c/sprint/welcome)

What’s the appeal?

While writing is otherwise perceived as a solitary activity, the sprint turns it inside out. Shared silent concentration across time zones, for a full turn of the clock. Alone, but together.

Academics write constantly anyway. Any format that reframes this demanding, pressurized work as ritual, meditation, or craft — more than page count and output — is welcome.

Who is joining in? Let’s meet with hundreds of our best writing friends.
